About TeacherAID
Accelerating Foundational Learning through Artificial Intelligence & Evidence-Based Pedagogy
TeacherAID is an interactive, adaptive digital learning platform designed to revolutionize primary education in Nepal. Developed as a core technology component of the Foundational Learning Acceleration Program (FLAP), TeacherAID empowers teachers and bridges learning gaps for young learners in foundational subjects like Mathematics and English.
The FLAP Program
The Foundational Learning Acceleration Program (FLAP) is an evidence-based "learning laboratory" designed and executed by the Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS) in Nepal.
Primary education across developing regions often faces a critical challenge: students advance through grade levels without mastering basic reading, numerical, and logical skills. FLAP directly addresses these foundational gaps in Grades 3, 4, and 5 by introducing targeted interventions, competency-based grouping, and personalized learning pathways.
Core Pillars of FLAP:
- Competency-Based Grouping: Transitioning from traditional age/grade cohorts to grouping students by actual learning level.
- Adaptive Digital Platform: Leveraging TeacherAID's Generative AI to provide customized, bilingual (Nepali & English) lesson paths and real-time scaffolding.
- Intensive Human Tutoring: Pairing digital tools with trained educators to ensure active human-in-the-loop guidance.
How TeacherAID Works
TeacherAID serves dual functions for the educational ecosystem:
For Teachers
Provides AI-assisted lesson creation, real-time classroom analytics, automated assessment generation, and student diagnostic tracking to make teaching more efficient and targeted.
For Students
Offers an engaging, interactive whiteboard experience with adaptive practice problems, bilingual explanations, instant feedback, and step-by-step guidance tailored to each student's pace.
About IIDS & Leadership
The Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS) is a premier, independent, non-partisan, and not-for-profit policy think-tank established in 1979 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The FLAP initiative and TeacherAID system are led by research and technical visionaries committed to evidence-driven educational reform, supported by corporate social responsibility (CSR) partnerships including Buddha Air, and hosted under IIDS Labs.
